Teguh Herba to expand distribution network nationwide

TEGUH Herba Enterprise, a manufacturer of traditional herbal energy drink and herbal capsule health supplement, plans to expand its distribution network throughout the country in its effort to widen and increase awareness of its products.

With the planned expansion of its distribution network, the Kuantan-based enterprise, which owns Teguh Herba brand of herbal cocoa drink and herbal capsule health supplement, is confident that its locally concocted herbal products would offer value added health benefits to a wider section of the nation’s population.

Currently, the products are sold in Pahang directly to consumers and through online sales. Both products are also available through mail orders with consumers hailing from Kelantan, Johor, Perak, Kedah, Penang, Perlis and Malacca.

Formulation and contract manufacturing of the Teguh Herba products are undertaken by TPM Biotech Sdn Bhd at the TPM Biotech’s Herbal Biotech Centre in Raub, Pahang. TPM Biotech is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd, an agency under the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.

Teguh Herba Enterprise manager Khairul Redzuan Ibrahim said the company aimed to explore the markets in Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei.

The company’s current monthly production of the herbal cocoa energy drink is 3,000 boxes and 5,000 boxes for the herbal capsule supplement. They are approved by the Health Ministry’s National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau and certified halal by Jakim.

The herbal energy cocoa drink comes in 20 sachets each box. It contains extracts of two main herbal ingredients: tongkat ali and lasianthus. The herbal capsule supplement, which contains 100% herbal extracts, comes in a box of 30 capsules.

“It is our vision to ensure our quality products, which are affordably priced, will be able to reach a wider public. We have invested substantially in time and money for research and development (R&D) of both these products because we strongly believe in sharing the invaluable concoction developed by our founder through his earlier sufferings,” said Khairul.

On the company’s future expansion plan, Khairul said plans were in the pipeline to diversify into new herbal health products for women to restore their health and vitality after pregnancy.

“We wish to express our gratitude to TPM Herbal Biotech Centre for opening the doors and showing us the opportunities in our business venture. The manufacturing aspects and maintaining the consistent quality of our products are taken care of by TPM Biotech.

The herbal cocoa energy drink and herbal capsule were formulated by the company’s founder, Ibrahim Manan, in 2008 who consumed the concoction himself to reduce his blood sugar level.

In wanting to share his formulation for diabetic treatment, Ibrahim and his family turned his earlier adversity into a business opportunity by venturing into the traditional herbal treatment industry.

TPM Biotech Sdn Bhd’s Herbal Biotech Centre was recently awarded the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Audit Standard (HACCP) certificate whereby food products manufactured by it can be exported internationally.

In addition, the TPM Biotech facility also has the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) status, accorded by the Health Ministry’s National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau in 2006.
